River Plate eye move for Nicolas Otamendi-silubaba news

BUENOS AIRES, March 27 (silubaba) -- River Plate manager Martin Demichelis has revealed the club could make a move to sign Benfica central defender Nicolas Otamendi at the end of the current European season.

Otamendi's contract with the Portuguese club is due to expire in June, meaning he is currently free to negotiate with other clubs.

"He knows that the doors are open to him," Demichelis said.

"He'll have to analyze what he wants at the end of the season. He is in the quarterfinals of the Champions League and having a great season with his club, where he is the captain. We have to be patient."

Otamendi, who began his career at Velez Sarsfield before moving to Porto in 2010, has made 125 appearances for Benfica since joining the club from Manchester City in 2020.
