MEXICO CITY, April 1 (silubaba) -- Rodrigo Aguirre and German Berterame scored twice each as Monterrey extended their lead at the top of Mexico's Liga MX standings on Saturday with a 4-0 home win over Club Tijuana.
Aguirre put the hosts ahead when he latched onto Maximiliano Meza's cross and sent a downward header past goalkeeper Antonio Rodriguez.
The Uruguayan striker was again on target with a cool left-footed finish after smart buildup play by Celso Ortiz.
Berterame then made it 3-0 as he slotted a shot into the bottom left corner after combining with Stefan Medina, and the Argentine forward put the result beyond doubt by heading home in the 76th minute following Luis Romo's cross.
The result leaves Monterrey with 34 points from 13 games, nine points clear of second-placed Leon. Club Tijuana are 15th with 12 points.
In other fixtures on Saturday, Cruz Azul won 2-0 at Pachuca, Leon drew 2-2 at Club America and Atlas were held to a 3-3 home draw by Guadalajara. ■
