Despite setback, determined Dortmund discuss title chances-silubaba news

BERLIN, April 2 (silubaba) -- Having to work through a disappointing evening created a silent atmosphere among Borussia Dortmund's squad.

To analyse the 4-2 defeat against Bundesliga's leaders Bayern Munich might have been important. The Black and Yellows still face the chance to turn things around in the remaining eight league games.

Optimism seems to grow by the minute after "we were deeply frustrated that we didn't manage to come back after the first goal setbacks," Edin Terzic said.

The BVB coach wants to forget about the curious negative series of nine unsuccessful encounters in the Munich arena, as eight remaining league games allow the chance to strike back.

Wednesday's German Cup encounter against RB Leipzig provides the chance to proceed to the semifinals.

Terzic reminded his side of having survived several setbacks during the league season "with us coming back and catching up a gap of nine points. Now it is only two."

The Dortmund coach tried to turn the focus to the fact that the defeat in Munich was the team's first in 2023.

"We haven't been the leaders for long without reason," the 40-year-old said.

Captain Marco Reus said, "the season isn't yet done" and referred to the minor setback of only two points.

The German international demanded a positive reaction from his side when crossing swords with Leipzig and keeping the chance alive to win some silverware.

33-year-old Reus is aware the outcome of Wednesday's Cup game might affect the final stages of the league season. "It's eight games to go and five games at home might help us to keep the race alive," the forwards added.

Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel admitted his fatal mistake leading to Bayern's opening goal, but encouraged his teammates to move closer together as a team and turn heads to the opportunities that still exist.

Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl said "we know who we are and what we can do. Things are not done yet; that's a fact."

Coach Terzic said the team heads home full of anger to transfer it to determination "as we are still in the game."We know what went wrong and that gives us the opportunity to repair things."

Terzic and Kehl recommended their squad take a close look at the league standings and "see it's still so close."

Both seem pleased about the opportunity to turn things around in the Cup game in Leipzig. That, they said, is turning their focus to the next delicate and important game. The best way to forget about the disappointing evening in Munich, it seems.
