Palmeiras win 25th Sao Paulo state title-silubaba news

SAO PAULO, April 9 (silubaba) -- Gabriel Menino struck two first-half goals as Palmeiras secured their 25th Sao Paulo state title on Sunday with a 4-0 home victory over Agua Santa.

The result handed Palmeiras a 5-2 win on aggregate after Agua Santa prevailed 2-1 in the first leg.

Menino struck in the 15th and 27th minutes before 16-year-old Endrick Felipe added a third just after the half hour.

Agua Santa were reduced to 10 men just before halftime when teenage midfielder Villian Vieira was shown a red card for a violent challenge.

Winger Jose Manuel Lopez completed the rout by netting his team's fourth goal 17 minutes from time.

Palmeiras are now two titles clear of Sao Paulo as the second-most successful club in the history of the Sao Paulo state championship. Corinthians hold the record for the most triumphs with 30.

Palmeiras will begin their Brazilian Serie A campaign with a home clash against Cuiaba next Saturday.
