Santos Laguna shock leaders Monterrey in Liga MX-silubaba news

MEXICO CITY, April 16 (silubaba) -- Colombian forward Harold Preciado converted a 94th-minute penalty as Santos Laguna came from behind to clinch a 2-1 away victory over leaders Monterrey in Mexico's Liga MX on Sunday.

Rogelio Funes Mori put the hosts ahead with a low finish after Luis Romo's pass but Juan Brunetta equalized three minutes later as he sent a left-footed shot into the bottom-right corner.

Funes Mori went from hero to villain in the 40th minute when he was sent off after being shown a second yellow card in the space of a minute.

Santos Laguna were also reduced to 10 men after Lucas Gonzalez received a straight red card for scything down Jesus Gallardo on the stroke of halftime.

Monterrey dominated possession in the second half but it was Santos Laguna that went ahead as Preciado held his nerve from the spot after he was brought down by Fernando Hernandez.

The result leaves Santos Laguna ninth in the 18-team standings while Monterrey remain four points clear in top spot, despite having lost their past two matches.

In other Liga MX fixtures on Sunday, Tigres UANL drew 0-0 at Queretaro and Pumas UNAM secured a 3-1 home win over Toluca.
