JERUSALEM, April 19 (silubaba) -- Israeli state cup holder Hapoel Jerusalem qualified for the Final Four of the FIBA Basketball Champions League after an impressive 91-51 home win over AEK Athens on Wednesday.
With the victory, Jerusalem led 2-1 in the best-of-three quarterfinal series.
Thanks to strong team defense and three-pointers by Mareks Mejeris, the hosts opened Wednesday's game with an 18-7 lead. Zach Hankins and Speedy Smith helped Jerusalem enlarge the lead to 40-16 in the 18th minute before the score was set at 43-22 at halftime.
Levi Randolph inspired Jerusalem to secure the win already in the third quarter, which ended 59-36.
Randolph scored a game-high 25 points for Jerusalem. His teammates Khadeen Carrington and Siim-Sander Vene added 15 points each. Brynton Lemar scored 21 points for AEK.
The Final Four games will be played on May 12 and 14, with the semifinals draw taking place in the city that will be chosen to host the tournament. ■
