Botafogo rout Cesar Vallejo in Copa Sudamericana-silubaba news

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 20 (silubaba) -- Brazil's Botafogo scored two goals either side of halftime to romp to a 4-0 home win over Peruvian side Cesar Vallejo in their Copa Sudamerica group-stage match on Thursday.

Victor Sa and Francisco Soares netted in the opening 45 minutes, and the hosts were handed a further boost when Anderson Villacorta was shown a second yellow card for a bad tackle on Sa.

Carlos Eduardo extended Botafogo's lead with a curling free-kick just before the hour as Cesar Vallejo floundered. The visitors were reduced to nine men in the 73rd minute as Renzo Garces was shown a second yellow card for handball in the area.

Danilo Pinheiro converted the resultant spot-kick as Botafogo took an unassailable lead.

The result lifted Botafogo to second in Group A, two points behind leaders LDU Quito. Cesar Vallejo remain last with two defeats from as many fixtures.

In other games on Thursday, Millonarios won 2-0 at Penarol, Audax Italiano held hosts Santos to a goalless draw, Fortaleza prevailed 2-0 at San Lorenzo, Tigre won 2-1 at Deportes Tolima, Emelec edged to a 1-0 home win over Huracan, and Goias drew 2-2 at Universitario.
