DUBAI, May 1 (silubaba) -- China's Jiang Zhenbang/Wei Yaxin upset their senior compatriots Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong to claim the mixed doubles title at the Badminton Asia Championships here on Sunday.
Facing defending champions and top-seeded Zheng/Huang, youngsters Jiang/Wei, who reached the final in their first-time appearance in the tournament, showed their best form and took the match 21-15, 21-16 in just 28 minutes.
Anthony Sinisuka Ginting became the first Indonesian shuttler since Taufik Hidayat in 2007 to win the men's singles title at the Asia Championships as the second seed thrashed Loh Kean Yew of Singapore 21-12, 21-8.
Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu-ying, who had broken a five-match losing streak to Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in the semifinals, won the final by defeating South Korean favourite An Se-young 21-10, 21-14.
Japanese Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota defeated South Korea's Baek Ha-na/Lee So-hee 21-7, 21-14 to win the women's doubles, while the men's doubles title went to Indian duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, who knocked out Malaysian pair Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi 16-21, 21-17, 21-19. ■
