SANTIAGO, May 4 (silubaba) -- Six-time champions Boca Juniors took a major step toward qualifying for the Copa Libertadores knockout stage with a 2-0 away victory over Chile's Colo-Colo on Wednesday.
Luis Advincula and Sebastian Villa scored either side of halftime as the Argentine side clinched their second win of the group stage so far.
Colo-Colo were forced to play the last 25 minutes with only 10 men after Carlos Palacios was shown a straight red card for a violent challenge on Valentin Barco.
The result leaves Boca top of Group F with seven points from three matches, three points ahead of second-placed Colo-Colo.
In other Copa Libertadores group stage fixtures on Wednesday, Bolivar won 4-0 at Cerro Porteno, Nacional drew 2-2 at Internacional, Palmeiras won 2-0 at Barcelona SC, Atletico Mineiro prevailed 2-0 at home to Alianza Lima and Independiente Medellin eased to a 4-2 home victory over Metropolitanos. ■
