BUENOS AIRES, May 4 (silubaba) -- Nicolas Oroz scored with a superb free-kick to earn 10-man Racing Club a 1-1 draw with defending champions Flamengo in their Copa Libertadores Group A clash on Thursday.
The hosts suffered a major blow in the 26th minute when veteran forward Gabriel Hauche was sent off after a bad challenge that earned him a second yellow card in as many minutes.
The Brazilian side took the lead on the stroke of halftime through Gabriel Barbosa, who rifled a first-time effort past goalkeeper Gabriel Arias following Erick Pulgar's cross from a free-kick.
But Flamengo's fortunes changed when right-back Wesley Franca was also dismissed for a second rash tackle in the 73rd minute.
Oroz then stunned the visitors by curling home a 22-yard shot from a set piece, provoking wild celebrations from the home fans.
The result leaves Fernando Gago's men top of the group with seven points from three games, three points ahead of second-placed Flamengo. ■
