Tigres UANL reach Liga MX last eight-silubaba news

MEXICO CITY, May 7 (silubaba) -- Sebastian Cordova struck a second-half winner as Tigres UANL earned a spot in Mexico's Liga MX quarterfinals on Sunday with a 1-0 home victory over Puebla.

Cordova gave his side the lead just before the hour when he cut onto his left foot and drilled a shot that flew into the far corner off Antony Silva's gloves.

The hosts withstood a tense final 30 minutes to book a last-eight meeting with Toluca, the first leg of which will be played on Wednesday at the latter's Estadio Nemesio Diaz.

In other quarterfinal first legs on Wednesday, Monterrey will host Santos Laguna, Atlas will visit Guadalajara and Club America will be at home to San Luis.

The final will be played over two legs, home and away, on May 25 and 28.
