Talleres stay in title race as Racing sink-silubaba news

BUENOS AIRES, May 8 (silubaba) -- Michael Santos and Diego Valoyes scored two goals each as Talleres Cordoba kept alive their Argentine Primera Division title hopes with a 4-2 win at Racing Club on Monday.

Santos struck twice in the first 25 minutes and Valoyes made it 3-0 by breaching Racing's defense just after halftime.

Racing rallied as Ivan Pillud and Nicolas Oroz reduced the deficit to 3-2 just after the hour. But Valoyes converted a 76th-minute penalty to guarantee Talleres their eighth win of the campaign.

Javier Gandolfi's men remain fourth in the 28-team standings with 27 points from 15 games, 10 points behind leaders River Plate. Racing are 14th, having lost four and drawn one of their past five games.

In other Argentine Primera Division fixtures on Monday, Sarmiento won 1-0 at Central Cordoba, San Lorenzo were held to a goalless home draw by Defensa y Justicia and Gimnasia prevailed 1-0 at Arsenal Sarandi.
