JERUSALEM, May 18 (silubaba) -- Maccabi Tel Aviv, the celebrated Israeli EuroLeague basketball club, has renewed Bonzie Colson's contract for another two seasons, securing him until 2025, according to a club statement issued on Thursday.
The 27-year-old forward, who began his stint with Maccabi in June last year, played a significant role in all 39 of Maccabi's EuroLeague matches during his rookie season. He boasted an average of 10.7 points per game, the third-highest amongst all Maccabi players, and 5.6 rebounds, the team's second-best, within an average playtime of 26 minutes per game.
Moreover, Colson averaged 1.3 steals per game, ranking sixth among all EuroLeague players this season.
Colson, a Notre Dame collegiate basketball alumnus, made eight appearances in NBA games for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2019 before kick-starting his European career with stops at Darussafaka, SIG Strasbourg, and Karsiyaka.
"Bonzie has delivered one of the most remarkable rookie performances I can recall," stated Maccabi's Head Coach Oded Kattash, "He brings tremendous energy and versatility to our side."
On his contract extension, Colson shared, "It's a blessing to renew and extend my contract. My focus is on continuous improvement, team-building, and hopefully contributing to more championship banners in the arena." ■
