Arsenal Sarandi snap losing run in Argentine top flight-silubaba news

BUENOS AIRES, May 18 (silubaba) -- Arsenal Sarandi ended a three-game losing sequence in Argentina's Primera Division on Thursday with a 2-1 home win over Independiente.

Joaquin Laso gifted the hosts the lead by inadvertently turning the ball into his own net in the eighth minute.

Facundo Pons doubled the advantage just after the hour with a cool finish into the bottom-right corner after combining with Lucas Brochero on the counterattack.

The visitors reduced the deficit when Matias Gimenez slotted home 13 minutes from time.

Arsenal remain 27th in the 28-team standings with 14 points from 17 outings while Independiente are 23rd with 17 points.
