WARSAW, May 22 (silubaba) -- German club Werder Bremen announced Monday on its official website the signing of Polish striker Dawid Kownacki from Fortuna Dusseldorf on a free transfer.
The 26-year-old, who has scored 26 goals for Fortuna in all competitions, decided not to extend his contract with the second division side.
"I had a few other offers from top clubs but the personable feel-good factor played a decisive role. In our talks, Werder authorities gave me a clear view of how they see me, what they expect and what makes the team and the club tick as a whole," the Pole said just after signing a contract with the new club.
"Werder Bremen are having a good season as a promoted side and you get the feeling that everything just fits, not only within the team, but also in terms of the relationship between the coaches and the management. I want to bring my qualities to help the team develop even further," Kownacki added. ■
