Dortmund's successful journey is strongly connected to Haller's lionheart-silubaba news

BERLIN, May 23 (silubaba) -- Sebastien Haller is the epitome of tranquility and serenity. His constant smile seems to appear naturally, particularly when he's discussing the topic at the forefront of everyone's mind.

For many, it's a given that Borussia Dortmund will secure its first national championship since 2012 in the upcoming weekend.

The 28-year-old French striker shares the optimism that's buzzing around the Black and Yellows. Above all, he symbolizes the progress achieved in 2023.

Last summer, he was faced with a testicular cancer diagnosis, but Haller made a spirited return in January 2023 following two successful operations and several rounds of chemotherapy.

The player and the club had initially been shocked upon hearing the grim news during a summer pre-season training camp in Switzerland. However, a positive mindset gradually replaced this shock.

"The biggest miracle for us was his return. The manner in which he did so instilled confidence and belief that we can overcome any situation, no matter how difficult," said coach Edin Terzic.

From January 22, Haller played 21 competitive games, catalyzing a performance upswing not only for the entire squad but also for wingers such as Karim Adeyemi and Donyell Malen.

At the time, Borussia trailed title rival Bayern by nine points, and few believed catching up was a feasible goal.

The former Ajax striker emerged as a reliable force, and any potential 2023 title is undoubtedly tied to his name.

Haller scored five goals in the club's recent three matches, including two goals in Augsburg last Sunday when BVB survived a challenging away game seen as the final significant stress test.

The French striker talks about the joy that surrounds him as he navigates his way back to a normal life.

While others discuss his impact on the team's performance, Haller is simply grateful for every training session he attends.

Coach Terzic observed that Haller's happiness has affected the entire team and club, reminding them of the value of small steps.

The striker's resilient journey revitalized confidence in Dortmund, propelling the side to become the league's top club after the winter break.

"I am just thankful for all the help I got and all the people that encouraged me not to give up," said Haller.

Haller was one of the first to appreciate the coach's decision to replace the free day this week with recovery work ahead of the final game of the 2022-2023 season against Mainz this Saturday.

Dortmund is prepared for a stunning celebration, holding a two-point lead, but "we aren't finished yet. We should draw energy from the fact that we've managed to reach this point to refine a curious season," as Terzic puts it.

Benefiting from Bayern's performance slump might be one aspect, but ultimately, Haller's spirit has led the club to new heights.
