Australia’s Taylor feels “nice to look back” with honor in FIBA Hall of Fame-silubaba news

CANBERRA, June 3 (silubaba) -- Australia's former world champion Penny Taylor felt "nice to look back" the career as she will be inducted into the international basketball Hall of Fame.

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) on Friday announced that Taylor, 42, will join Chinese former superstar Yao Ming and eight other players in the hall of fame class of 2023.

A 185 centimeter forward, Taylor played for Australia's national women's team, the Opals, at three Olympics, winning silver medals in Athens and Beijing.

In 2006 she was part of the Opals' team that won the world championship and was named the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament.

During a 19-year professional career Taylor won three WNBA titles and also played in Australia, Europe and China.

Taylor said the induction to the hall of fame was "just as good" as any other award.

"My life is pretty much consumed with children and home life so it's a nice little reminder that I once did something else other than this," Taylor said on the Basketball Australia website.

"And everyone always says that too, it's not until you finish you appreciate what you did because when you're in it you're focused on that particular moment in time. So, it is nice to look back, remember a little bit and be grateful for it."

The 2023 ceremony will take place in the Philippines during the men's World Cup in August.
