5.4-magnitude quake strikes Japan's Hokkaido Prefecture: JMA-silubaba news

TOKYO -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 on Sunday struck Japan's Hokkaido Prefecture, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The temblor occurred at around 8:08 pm local time, with its epicenter at a latitude of 43.5 degrees north and a longitude of 142.7 degrees east, and at depth of 30 km.

The quake logged 3 in some parts of Hokkaido Prefecture on the Japanese seismic intensity scale which peaks at 7.

So far no tsunami warning has been issued.
