MACAO, June 22 (silubaba) -- China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Thursday concluded a dragon boat race to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival, with teams from the Chinese mainland and Thailand winning top places.
A total of 138 local teams competed in the races while teams from the Chinese mainland, China's Hong Kong SAR, and other countries and regions such as Australia, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines contested alongside the local teams.
Pun Weng Kun, president of the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR government, said the three-day races attracted over 16,000 audiences in total, exceeding expectations.
Macao will host a series of sports events in the second half of this year, including artistic swimming, martial arts for teenagers, marathon and the Grand Prix motorsport road race for automobiles and motorcycles, added Pun. ■
