The discharge of nuclear-contaminated water from Japan into the sea has become a global concern and has also raised concerns among Chinese consumers about the safety of food imported from Japan, the General Administration of Customs said on Friday.

The Chinese customs will remain on high alert, take absolute responsibility for domestic consumers, and take all necessary measures in a timely manner in light of the development of the situation to ensure the food safety of Chinese consumers, it said.
