BEIJING, July 14 (silubaba) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.04 percent to 3,237.7 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.14 percent lower at 11,080.32 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 916.8 billion yuan (about 128.6 billion U.S. dollars), down from 920.8 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares of news and publishing companies led the gains, while those related to the production and supply of power and heat suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.6 percent to close at 2,224.1 points. ■
