Dutch starlet Simons leaves PSV to return to Paris Saint-Germain-silubaba news

THE HAGUE, July 16 (silubaba) -- Dutch international Xavi Simons left PSV's training camp in Austria to return to French champions Paris Saint-Germain, the Dutch club announced on Sunday.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder had joined PSV on a free transfer from PSG last year, but his PSV contract contained a buy-back clause that the French club has elected to trigger.

Last season, Simons had a breakthrough season, helping PSV to finish runners-up in the Eredivisie and win the Dutch Cup, and becoming the league's joint-top scorer with 19 goals. He also made his international debut for the Netherlands at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and has collected five caps in total.

Simons was born in Amsterdam, but joined FC Barcelona's youth academy in 2010. In 2019, Simons moved to PSG and two years later he made his professional debut for the French giants. He played seven matches in Ligue 1, but left the club for PSV last year in search of more playing time.
