BERLIN, July 18 (silubaba) -- The pre-season training camp of Bayern Munich is set in an enchanting environment. For many years, the Tegernsee has been known as one of Bavaria's most appealing tourist destinations. While the current German champions aim to please fans and prepare for a successful 2023-24 season, construction work is underway behind the scenes in the small town of Rottach-Egern.
As Bayern Munich strives to enhance the quality of coach Thomas Tuchel's team, there are indications that Tottenham striker Harry Kane and South Korean defender Kim Min-jae may depart, signaling a transformation for the 2020 treble-winning side. The likely transfer of the 29-year-old Premier League striker is expected to reignite the club's ambitions of competing for the UEFA Champions League title, alongside Europe's top teams.
Negotiations with Spurs manager Daniel Levy are ongoing, and Bayern board member Uli Hoeness remains optimistic about reaching a final agreement. Reports suggest a transfer fee ranging from 100 to 140 million euros for the attacker, who is under contract with the London club until 2024. After Bayern chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen visited London, Hoeness spoke about Kane's interest in joining the Bavarian club.
"He wants to play on the international stage. We offer him the opportunity to join a European top team, as Tottenham will not be competing in international tournaments this season," stated the former Bayern president. German media have reported that the Englishman turned down an offer from Paris Saint-Germain.
Amidst the pressing matter of the potential Kane transfer, Tuchel is also facing several changes within his team. German international Manuel Neuer, who recently returned from a lengthy injury break, is struggling to regain full fitness. While the 37-year-old is expected to maintain his position as the goalkeeper, his availability for the league opener on August 18 remains uncertain. Swiss international Yann Sommer, his replacement, is rumored to be moving to Inter Milan.
The future of former Liverpool star Sadio Mane is reportedly dependent on the outcome of negotiations with Spurs. Rumors suggest that Bayern is demanding a fee of 32 million euros for the Senegalese forward. The club's summer camp will continue until Thursday, with new signings Raphael Guerreiro and Konrad Laimer striving to make their mark.
Although Tuchel refused to comment on the Kane situation, he is placing increasing pressure on his squad. "I cannot guarantee that any player will still be with us after September 1," said the 49-year-old, alluding to uncertain cases such as German international Leon Goretzka. Tuchel emphasized the fierce competition within the team, as last season's disappointments in the Champions League and the German Cup left a bitter taste despite securing the German title unexpectedly. ■
