ISLAMABAD, July 20 (silubaba) -- The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Asian Cricket Council have announced the schedule of the 2023 Men's ODI Asia Cup.
According to a statement issued by the PCB, the tournament will be held from August 30 to September 17, with the opening match to be played between Pakistan and Nepal.
All 13 matches of the competition will be played at four different venues in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
"We are thrilled to announce the highly anticipated Men's ODI Asia Cup 2023, a celebration of cricketing excellence that unites the nations of Asia in the spirit of competition and camaraderie," said Jay Shah, president of the Asian Cricket Council.
"The Asia Cup holds a special place in the hearts of cricket enthusiasts across the continent. It goes beyond being just a tournament; it symbolizes the rich tapestry of cultures, traditions and shared passion for the game that binds our diverse nations together," Shah added.
Zaka Ashraf, chair of the PCB Management Committee, said, "For Pakistan, it will be the homecoming of the Asia Cup after 15 years. Our fans have waited for this for a long time."
Ashraf said that the tournament would be an excellent opportunity for Pakistan to play in high-profile pressure matches and reclaim the title they last won in 2012, adding that the team has the potential and capability to offer a strong performance. ■
