JERUSALEM, July 21 (silubaba) -- Israeli Women's Basketball Premier League club Elitzur Holon on Friday announced the signing of WNBA player Veronica Burton.
The 23-year-old guard currently plays for the WNBA side Dallas Wings, and will join Holon at the end of the WNBA season and ahead of the start of the Israeli new season in October.
"I'm excited to join Holon and can't wait for the season to start in Israel," said Burton, who will team up with former WNBA All Star Danielle Adams on the Israeli team.
Burton played college basketball for the Northwestern Wildcats, where she was awarded the WBCA NCAA Division I Defensive Player of the Year in 2022.
She was then selected in the 2022 WNBA draft with the seventh overall pick by the Wings, where she has played 60 games in total so far.
In the ongoing 2023 season, Burton has averaged 2.3 points and 2.7 assists in 21 games.
Burton also won the gold medal with the United States at the 2021 FIBA Women's AmeriCup in Puerto Rico, where she averaged 4.8 points and 4 assists per game. ■
