China's 2nd-tier football league team official slaps referee's face after being dismissed-silubaba news

BEIJING, July 24 (silubaba) -- A team official of Chinese second-tier football club Liaoning Shenyang City slapped a referee in the face after being shown a red card in a league game on Sunday.

Duan Xin, team leader of Liaoning Shenyang City, was dismissed by the referee when he protested against the latter's decisions on the pitch-side in stoppage time of the first half against Nanjing City.

He slapped the referee's face in response while the red card was still being flashed before him.

Duan then collapsed, with his head buried in hands, and was whisked away by an ambulance.

The Shenyang club issued a statement late Sunday night, claiming that "Duan has recognized the consequence of his irrational behavior, and has extended a sincere apology to the referee."

Liaoning Shenyang City lost 4-0 to Nanjing City.
