JERUSALEM, July 27 (silubaba) -- EuroLeague basketball side Maccabi Tel Aviv have signed former NBA player Antonius Cleveland on a two-year contract, the Israeli club said in a statement on Thursday.
The 29-year-old American shooting guard played college basketball at Southeast Missouri State, then in 2017 began his three-year NBA career that included a total of 30 games with the Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks.
In 2021, Cleveland moved to Australia, playing for the Illawarra Hawks and the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League (NBL), where he was twice in a row named the NBL Best Defensive Player.
In February 2023, he joined the Israeli Super League team Hapoel Eilat, where he played half a season.
"Cleveland has great athleticism and defensive skills," said Maccabi head coach Oded Kattash. "He's a very hungry player who wants to prove that he is suitable and can contribute at the highest levels."
Cleveland said: "I think my defense is where I hang my hat on. The fans can expect me to play hard and with passion." ■
