FUKUOKA, Japan, July 29 (silubaba) -- Australian Cameron McEvoy claimed the men's 50m freestyle title at the World Aquatics Championships here on Saturday.
The 29-year-old won the 11th swimming gold medal for Australia at the Fukuoka worlds in an Oceanian record of 21.06 seconds.
The U.S. jinx at the worlds continued as Jack Alexy, who finished second in 21.57, collected his country's 14th silver medal.
The swimming powerhouse, who won 17 golds at last year's Budapest worlds, has earned only three golds with two days to go.
Britain's Benjamin Proud took bronze in 21.58. ■
