Portuguese international striker Andre Silva joins Real Sociedad-silubaba news

MADRID, Aug. 2 (silubaba) -- Real Sociedad has signed Portuguese international striker Andre Silva on loan from German side RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

Silva will join the club from San Sebastian on an initial year-long agreement, although Real Sociedad has the option to make the move permanent at the end of the forthcoming season.

The transfer means the team that finished fourth in La Liga last season, has moved quickly to strengthen in attack after Alexander Sorloth joined Villarreal last week.

Silva will now compete with Umar Sadiq and Carlos Fernandez to lead the Basque side's attack, although he still has to put the finishing touches to his recovery from a knee injury that he suffered at Leipzig three months ago.

The striker began his career with Porto, before joining AC Milan, who loaned him to Sevilla and Eintracht Frankfurt, before selling him to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021.

He scored 11 league goals in his first campaign but a disappointing haul of just four in 31 appearances last season has seen the German club prepared to move him on in order to try and recover some of the fee they paid for him.
