BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 2 (silubaba) -- River Plate have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini on a free transfer, the Argentine club said on Wednesday.
Lanzini, who parted ways with Premier League side West Ham United in June, agreed to a contract that runs until June 30 next year.
"Welcome home, Manuel Lanzini," the Buenos Aires outfit said in a social media post alongside an image of the 30-year-old.
Lanzini began his career at River Plate in 2010 and had spells at Fluminense and Al Jazira before joining West Ham in 2015. His career has also included five appearances for Argentina's national team.
The playmaker is the third addition to River Plate's squad in the past month, joining forward Facundo Colidio and central defender Ramiro Funes Mori.
The reigning Argentine top-flight champions will begin their new domestic league season with an away clash against Argentinos Juniors on August 20. ■
