Computing power conference opens in NW China-silubaba news

YINCHUAN, Aug. 19 (silubaba) -- The 2023 China computing power conference opened on Saturday in Yinchuan, the capital of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

Industry and information technology minister Jin Zhuanglong said that China has in recent years introduced a series of policies and measures to accelerate the construction and application of computing infrastructure, and it has implemented many projects to promote the rapid development of its computing industry.

Currently, China's computing power totals 197 EFLOPS, ranking second in the world, Jin said. China's computing industry has begun to take shape, Jin added, and its output of computing products such as servers, computers and smartphones ranks first globally.

The conference is hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ningxia regional government.

As the country has stepped up efforts to promote the digital economy, a mega project was launched last year to improve overall computing power, involving the establishment of eight national computing hubs and 10 national data center clusters.
