BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 20 (silubaba) -- Argentinos Juniors recovered from a goal down to clinch a 3-2 home victory over River Plate in Argentina's Primera Division on Sunday.
Marco di Cesare opened the scoring for the hosts before Agustin Palavecino headed in an equalizer just before the half hour.
Esequiel Barco gave River the lead when he slotted home in the 41st minute just moments after his penalty attempt was saved by Alexis Arias.
But Luciano Gondou was in inspired form for the home side, scoring either side of the halftime interval to hand his team a perfect start to the new season.
In other Argentine top flight matches on Sunday, San Lorenzo won 1-0 at Lanus, Rosario Central were held to a goalless home draw by Atletico Tucuman, Sarmiento won 2-0 at home to Tigre and Instituto prevailed 1-0 at Arsenal Sarandi. ■
