River Plate rally late to secure first win of new season-silubaba news

BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 28 (silubaba) -- River Plate scored four second-half goals, coming from behind to complete 5-1 home rout of Barracas Central in Argentina's Primera Division on Sunday.

Bruno Sepulveda gave the visitors the lead with a close-range finish but he turned villain shortly after by inadvertently heading the ball into his own net while attempting to clear from a set piece.

Nicolas de la Cruz put the hosts ahead just after the interval and the visitors were dealt another blow in the 69th minute when Rodrigo Insua was shown a straight red card for violent conduct.

Pablo Solari added two more goals while Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon was also on target as River Plate secured their first win of the new campaign.

The result leaves River third in the 14-team Group A while Barracas Central are 13th.

In other Primera Division fixtures on Sunday, Godoy Cruz won 1-0 at home to Central Cordoba, Defensa y Justicia drew 0-0 at Platense, Sarmiento won 1-0 at home to Boca Juniors and Independiente prevailed 2-1 at home to Velez Sarsfield.
