TIRANA, Aug. 31 (silubaba) -- The Kazakh football team, Astana, ousted Albania's Partizani to advance to the UEFA Euro Conference League group stage on Thursday.
Playing at the Elbasan Arena in Elbasan, Astana drew 1-1 with Partizani in the second leg, securing a 2-1 aggregate win in the playoffs.
The Albanian squad, managed by Zoran Zekic, aimed to overturn the 1-0 deficit from the first leg played in Kazakhstan on Aug. 24.
Partizani took a 1-0 lead in the first half. However, their lead was short-lived as Astana's midfielder Marin Tomasov found the net in the 46th minute.
In an interview with local media, Albanian football specialist Sulejman Delvina said Partizani played very well in the first half. "Partizani did not find an opportunity to score in the second half," Delvina said. ■
