An overwhelming majority of Americans (78 percent) think the US is headed in the wrong direction, and the public's pessimism about the US' future is at its highest level in nearly half a year, according to a recent poll by The Associated Press-NORC Research Center. The poll also shows widespread political discontent among the public.
