BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 24 (silubaba) -- Veteran defender Leonardo Sigali scored in stoppage time as Racing Club clinched a 2-1 home win over Boca Juniors in Argentina's Primera Division on Tuesday.
Thirty-six-year-old Sigali broke the deadlock in the 96th minute when he rose highest to meet a floating Emiliano Vecchio free-kick with a powerful header from the edge of the six-yard box.
The goal came just three minutes after Miguel Merentiel's close-range shot canceled out Vecchio's 73rd-minute opener.
Racing are now second in Group B with 16 points from 10 outings, a point behind Belgrano, who have a game in hand. Boca are 10th in the 14-team group with 10 points so far.
Earlier in the Primera Division on Tuesday, Gimnasia won 2-1 at Barracas Central and Union Santa Fe were held to a goalless home draw by Defensa y Justicia. ■
