BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 30 (silubaba) -- Lanus struck two second-half goals to clinch a 2-0 home victory over title contenders Belgrano in Argentina's Primera Division on Monday.
The visitors suffered a blow just after the half hour mark when Erik Godoy was shown a straight red card for a bad foul on Leandro Diaz.
Jonathan Torres gave the hosts the lead early in the second half with a superbly taken close-range volley following a set piece.
Luciano Boggio doubled the advantage on the hour as he combined with Pedro de la Vega before rifling a long-range effort into the top left corner.
The result means Godoy Cruz can displace Belgrano at the top of Group B if they beat Tigre away on Tuesday. Lanus, meanwhile, are 12th in the 14-team group with just two wins from 11 games so far.
In other Primera Division fixtures on Monday, Platense were held to a goalless home draw by Newell's Old Boys, Huracan drew 0-0 at home to Barracas Central, Sarmiento drew 0-0 at home to San Lorenzo and Talleres Cordoba were held to a goalless home draw by Banfield. ■
