Huracan show mettle as River Plate stumble-silubaba news

BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 3 (silubaba) -- Franco Alfonso struck late as Huracan showed their title credentials with a 2-1 away win over River Plate in Argentina's Primera Division on Friday.

Alfonso netted in the 87th minute after River's Gonzalo Martinez canceled out Walter Mazzantti's opener.

Despite the result, River remain three points clear of second-placed Huracan in their 14-team group.

Independiente are third with 19 points, two points ahead of Colon and Velez Sarsfield.

In Friday's only other Primera Division fixture, Arsenal Sarandi were held to a 0-0 home draw by Gimnasia.
