THE HAGUE, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- After having terminated his contract at Saudi club Al Ettifaq, former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson signed for Ajax on Thursday.
The 33-year-old arrived in Amsterdam for medical examination on Thursday afternoon and has signed a contract until mid-2026 at Ajax.
Henderson, who left Liverpool for Al Ettifaq last summer, started his professional career at Sunderland and moved to Liverpool in 2011. With the Reds, he won the UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020.
Ajax are currently fifth in the Dutch Eredivisie, having previously been bottom of the league in a difficult season. ■
