Chinese comedy "Successor" topped the daily box office chart on the Chinese mainland on its second day of preview screenings, with whopping daily box office sales of nearly 201.7 million yuan (about 28.28 million U.S. dollars) on Sunday.
Starring comedy stars Shen Teng and Ma Li and directed by Yan Fei and Peng Damo, the film tells the story of a poor rural couple who count on their son to change their fate. It will be available for public screening on Tuesday.
Crime thriller "A Place Called Silence" stood second, raking in over 76.66 million yuan on its 12th day of public screening.
Universal and Illumination's animated comedy "Despicable Me 4" came up third with 40.45 million yuan of box office sales.
The total box office revenue of the Chinese mainland on Sunday stood at nearly 345.29 million yuan.
