Tunnel bridge collapses after mudslide in SW China

CHENGDU, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- A bridge connecting two tunnels on an expressway in southwest China's Sichuan Province collapsed after a sudden mudslide Saturday, leading to the falling of vehicles, local authorities said.

The bridge collapsed at around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday at the section between Kangding City and Luding County of the Ya'an-Kangding expressway, according to the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture's publicity department.

So far, two people have been rescued and sent to hospital. Details of the situation are being further verified.
