Olympics | Jamaican legend Fraser-Pryce withdraws from women’s 100m at Paris Olympics

PARIS, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Jamaican legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce unexpectedly withdrew from the women's 100m at the Paris Olympics on Saturday.

The three-time Olympic champion advanced from her heat earlier in the day but did not appear for her semifinal at Stade de France.

Officials did not immediately give a reason for her absence.

The 37-year-old, competing at her final Olympics, could still participate at the Games in the 4x100m relay.

Fraser-Pryce is the third-fastest woman in history and was aiming to win a medal at her fifth consecutive Olympics.

She won back-to-back 100m Olympic titles in 2008 and 2012, and was a part of Jamaica's triumphant 4x100m relay team in Tokyo three years ago.
