PARIS, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Valarie Allman clinched gold in the women's discus at the Paris Olympics on Monday, becoming the first American to successfully defend the title.
The 29-year-old produced a best throw of 69.50 meters to finish ahead of silver medalist Feng Bin of China, with a throw of 67.51.
Croatia's Sandra Elkasevic took the bronze medal, who only made two successful attempts but recorded a personal best of 67.51. ■
