PARIS, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Defending champions France rallied from two sets down to beat Germany 3-2 on Monday for the men's volleyball semifinals of the Paris Games.

Earvin Ngapeth scored 21 points and Trevor Clevenot added 20 as the French men landed the 18-25, 26-28, 25-20, 25-21 and 15-13 victory in the quarter-finals in one hour and 53 minutes.

"We were ready for a tiebreak. We expected it. That's why we didn't panic after being down 2-0. We didn't even feel like we were being dominated," said Ngapeth.

"We were on every ball, we were patient, and we showed we are a group," he added.

Earlier on Monday, Italy also snatched a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Japan. In other quarter-finals, Poland beat Slovenia in four sets and the United States defeated Brazil 3-1.

France will face Italy in Wednesday's semifinals where the United States await Poland.
