RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo are preparing a bid to sign former Juventus full-back Alex Sandro on a free transfer, according to media reports in Brazil.
Sandro, who ended his nine-year spell with Juventus in June, is currently training alone in Portugal as he considers offers from several clubs, Globo Esporte reported on Monday.
It added that the 33-year-old is enthusiastic about the prospect of reuniting with Flamengo boss Tite, whom he played under with Brazil's national team.
The report said Sandro had also attracted interest from Flamengo's Brazilian top-flight rivals Sao Paulo and clubs in Saudi Arabia.
The left-back became a priority for Flamengo after Uruguayan Matias Vina was ruled out for the rest of the season with a fractured tibia and a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. ■
