XI'AN, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Domestic athletics stars Hu Linpeng, Xi Xiaoheng and Xie Dongsheng were crowned in their respective disciplines here on Sunday at China's 2023 National Athletics Indoor Invitational.
In the women's high jump, national champion Hu conquered 1.70m, 1.75m and 1.80m on her first attempts. Hu chose to challenge 1.84m after seizing the gold with 1.80m, but the 27-year-old failed to clear it.
Second and third places were taken by Guangdong's Chen Zhiying and Hebei's Liu Jiyi, respectively. Both of them cleared 1.75m, with Chen Zhiying passing the height on his first attempt, while Liu Jiyi had one failure.
Xi Xiaoheng, silver medalist at China's 14th National Games in 2021, won the men's 800m in one minute and 55.18 seconds. The 23-year-old overtook the event's indoor national record holder Liu Dezhu on the last turn of the race.
Xi failed to finish in the men's 1500m final, with Xie Dongsheng of Shanghai claiming victory with a time of three minutes and 48.53 seconds.
Jiao Xinping of Henan, who had won the men's long jump title on Thursday, pocketed his second tournament gold in the men's triple jump with a leap of 16.29m. Zeng Rui of Guangdong won the women's category in 13.67m.
Also on Sunday, Yang Yiting (women's 3,000m), Wan Jiaxin (men's 3,000m), Ding Yi (men's high jump), Zhang Guiping (women's 800m), Zhang Man (women's 200m), Zhang Xiaonan (men's 200m), Li Chunhui (women's 1500m), Liu Junqian (men's 60m hurdles) and Shi Jiali (women's 60m hurdles) all triumphed in their respective disciplines.
In the relay races, Zhejiang took the men's 4x400m relay gold in 3:16.75, and Guangdong won the women's competition in 3:46.29.
