MACAO, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Sun Yingsha and Lin Shidong will lead Team China for the World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions Macao 2025 from September 9 to 14, the organizers announced at a press conference on Tuesday.
Organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region government, the WTT and others, the event will take place at the Macao East Asian Games Dome, where the world's Top 32 men and Top 32 women will converge.
In addition to the world No. 1 players, the tournament will feature star paddlers including China's Wang Chuqin and Wang Manyu, Brazil's Hugo Calderano, the men's singles champion at the ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025, and Zhu Yuling of Macao, China, who captured the women's singles title at the WTT US Smash in July.
As for the schedule, the press conference released that the round of 32 will take place from September 9 to 11, followed by the round of 16 from the evening of September 11 to 12. The quarterfinals will be held on September 13, with the semifinals and finals scheduled for September 14.
Luis Gomes, president of the Macao Sports Bureau, delivered remarks, noting that in recent years, Macao has hosted several major WTT events, which have been enthusiastically received by local residents and visitors. These events, he added, have showcased Macao's capability as a host of international sporting spectacles and driven the development of its sports industry, sports tourism, and related sectors. ■
