Chad signs new national football coach

YAOUNDE, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Chadian FA on Thursday signed a two-year contract with Raoul Savoy as head coach of the national senior men's football team.

The 52-year-old Swiss succeeds Tahir Zakaria, whose contract was terminated in July following two defeats in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

During the contract signing ceremony, Chadian FA president Tahir Oloy Hassan said Raoul was expected to deliver high-quality, professional football to guide the Central African nation to the next African Cup of Nations and, "why not the World Cup?"

Raoul said he was committed to the task. "I am a positive person, a builder. We will show you on the pitch," he told reporters at a press conference after signing the contract.
