ISLAMABAD, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan on Monday announced a 15-member squad for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, scheduled from September 30 to November 2 in India and Sri Lanka.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement that Fatima Sana will lead Pakistan for the first time in the mega event.
The 23-year-old Sana previously captained the side in the ICC Women's CWC Qualifier earlier this year in Lahore, where Pakistan won all matches to secure qualification.
Right-handed batter Eyman Fatima, who recently made her T20I debut against Ireland, has been included in the squad, said the PCB.
Pakistan will play its group-stage matches at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
If the Pakistan team qualifies for the semifinal and the final, it would play both matches on October 29 and November 2, respectively, in Colombo.
The selected squad and reserve players will attend a 14-day preparatory camp from August 29 in Lahore, under head coach Muhammad Wasim, featuring training sessions and practice matches, added PCB.
According to the PCB, the Pakistani squad will also play a three-match ODI series against South Africa from September 16 to 22 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore as part of the preparations for the World Cup. ■
