Hungary, Egypt to host pentathlon World Championships in 2027 and 2028 respectively

GENEVA, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Hungary's Budapest will host the 2027 Pentathlon World Championships and Egypt's Cairo will stage the 2028 version, the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) announced on Friday.

The Executive Board (EB) of UIPM met in Kaunas, Lithuania, on August 27 to 28 and made a wide-ranging series of decisions relating to the future of UIPM sports.

The United States returns as Pentathlon World Cup host ahead of LA28 Olympics as West Hollywood in Los Angeles will host one of the four regular-season rounds of the World Cup circuit in 2027.

West Hollywood will host the electoral UIPM 2028 Congress and the non-electoral 2026 Congress will be open to online delegates in Monaco.

UIPM President Rob Stull said in a statement: "Here in Kaunas we are revealing to the world the incredible potential of our new cutting-edge pentathlon, which also provided the guiding light of our invigorating Executive Board meeting. It's so exciting that our sports will expand into new frontiers in 2027 and 2028 while also returning to the countries where we have enjoyed great times in the past."
